Chrysler proves that minivans can be cool
Most minivans on the market are seeing rising sales, showing that many families are once again viewing them as a great alternative to SUVs. Of course, their popularity stems mainly from their extremely spacious and practical interiors. When it comes to style and comfort, that’s another story.
The Chrysler Pacifica is a good example. Even with a redesigned, more modern front end for the 2027 model year, it remains a sensible purchase, thanks to significant price cuts of up to $7,200. However, there’s a way to make it truly eye-catching, even cool.
The proof? Last week, at the Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge event in Pontiac, Michigan, Chrysler unveiled two Pacifica concepts, one of which caught everyone’s attention with its design and accessories inspired by the VANkulture community.
The company came up with the idea after noticing that one-third of Pacifica customers opt for the Allure S package to give the car a bit more visual punch. Here, the customization goes a step further. It starts with a front spoiler, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a spoiler integrated into the top of the tailgate, all by VIS Racing.
Next, there’s a satin finish and several contrasting black trim pieces, tinted headlights, and 20-inch Vossen wheels fitted with Kenda tires designed for the track (no kidding!). In fact, handling is enhanced by an adjustable Megan Racing suspension and Swift Springs that lower the chassis by 63 mm, as well as Rotora brakes with eight-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers in the rear that grip enlarged 15.4- and 14-inch rotors.
To top it all off, a MagnaFlow exhaust gives the engine a more aggressive sound. To be clear, we’re still talking about the old 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (287 horsepower, 262 lbs-ft) even though the modifications might lead you to believe that a Hurricane or even a Hellcat engine is under the hood of this sporty minivan.
Unfortunately, Chrysler has no plans to move forward with this concept. On the other hand, according to the Mopar Insiders website, the 2025 Grizzly Peak concept could soon lead to a more rugged and adventurous Pacifica, ready for off-road adventures. Stay tuned.
