Top 10: Canada's best-selling vehicles in 2024
Following a jump of almost 12% in 2023 (the strongest annual increase since 1997), new vehicle sales in Canada rose by 8.2% in 2024 to 1.86 million units, according to Automotive News Data Center, continuing to shrug off the lows of the pandemic. While prices continue to rise, lower interest rates have certainly helped.
As we wrote in the last few days, General Motors leads the automakers for the second year running, with a market share of 15.4% - the highest since 2010 - and 294,315 units sold, a gain of 11.9% on 2023. Its Cadillac and GMC brands each enjoyed their best year ever.
Ford ranks second as a manufacturer, having achieved 279,221 domestic sales in 2024, an increase of 16.1%. As a brand, none did better than Ford once again. Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Subaru also performed well, all breaking their sales records in Canada in 2024.
