Pre-Owned vehicles: What Were Quebecers Shopping For in 2022?
As 2022 draws to a close, it's time to take stock. Undoubtedly, the used vehicle market has changed dramatically from what it was just two years ago, and it’s still impacted by supply chain disruptions and production issues affecting new vehicle inventories.
What types of used models did Quebec consumers search for the most in 2022? To find out, we've analysed the most visited pages on Otogo.ca since last January 1st.
SUVs Are Popular
As you might guess, SUVs are the type of vehicle most in demand, but surprisingly, sedans come second, even ranking before pickup trucks. Hatchbacks and sports models are the next most attractive to consumers, followed by coupes and convertibles. Vans and station wagons are far behind.
Not-So-Old Used Vehicles
A majority of people are looking for pre-owned vehicles that are three or four years old. For others, like-new models (aged one or two years) are more enticing than those that are six years old and older. Lower mileage, better condition and a still valid original manufacturer's warranty can be the reasons.
Speaking of mileage, the used vehicles that dominate searches usually have between 30,000 and 60,000 kilometres. There are still a lot of page views in each of the other brackets up to 100,000 kilometres, after which there is a marked and gradual decline.
As for prices, the rising value of pre-owned vehicles still forces many to question their budget. According to Otogo.ca’s statistics, models listed at $25,000 and under were the most in demand in 2022. Those with prices below $50,000 are also attracting notable interest.
