Who offers the best vehicle warranties in 2023?

The various warranties offered by vehicle manufacturers are always a very important element to consider at the time of purchase, for greater peace of mind. If you're shopping for a pre-owned vehicle, it's also a good idea to pay close attention to warranties, especially in the case of a recent model that is still covered by a warranty.

Which brands will offer the best warranties in 2023? The same names are returning, as you'll discover below, but before we go any further, a few changes are worth noting.

Thanks to CAA-Quebec, which each year studies the many coverages on the market to identify the most and least advantageous, we learn that Kia has added a 3-year/60,000 km warranty on the paintwork of its models.

When it comes to protecting the hybrid or electric system components of electrified vehicles, Toyota has chosen to increase its warranty from 5 years/100,000 km to 8 years/160,000 km, while Subaru has increased its mileage limit from 130,000 to 160,000 km. This puts them on a par with Ford/Lincoln, General Motors, Honda/Acura, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Tesla, other companies that guarantee electrified powertrain components for as long as the battery.

Bad news for Buick customers: General Motors has decided to reduce the warranty on this entry-level luxury brand to match that of its more popular Chevrolet and GMC brands. Whole-vehicle coverage and roadside assistance have each been reduced from 4 years/80,000 km to 3 years/60,000 km, while the powertrain warranty has melted from 6 years/110,000 km to 5 years/100,000 km.
