Ford to recall several models and possibly replace their engines

American automaker Ford is continuing its vehicle recalls, this time targeting 2021 models whose intake valves may not have been manufactured correctly.

Some 90,000 units are involved in the USA and almost 12,000 in Canada. We're talking about Ford Bronco, Edge, Explorer and F-150, as well as Lincoln Aviator (also 2022) and Nautilus, but only those equipped with a 2.7-liter or 3-liter EcoBoost engine.

Initially, broken valves would cause the engine's malfunction indicator to light up. Before long, the engine would start to run erratically, resulting in a loss of engine power or even a breakdown.

The problem is so serious that Ford will order its dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the entire engine, not just the intake valves. We imagine, however, that engine replacement will be necessary in very rare cases.

Owners will receive a notice by mail in the next few weeks, but they can also visit the Ford of Canada recall site to find out if their vehicle is affected.
