Spring cleaning also applies to your car

Spring cleaning also applies to your car

Your car will have carried you through the winter, through wind, snow and ice, and a ton of salt. You may have hibernated, but it hasn't. Since you put winter tires on it, chances are you haven't bothered to have it inspected. Too cold. Later. In the spring. That's right, we're getting there.

What's under the hood and under the car is more your garage's responsibility, but the interior of the car and the trunk you can easily take care of yourself.

Tires to change
Starting March 15, you can have your four-season tires installed. If you drive in the summer with your winter tires, you're extending your braking distances and putting your safety at risk.

A visual inspection by a mechanic

During the tire change, why not take the opportunity to have the car inspected? In any case, it will already be on the elevator and will show its calipers and other viscera to the mechanic.

All garages have a multi-point inspection and visual check plan for under the hood and under the car.

  • Brakes, steering, suspension, etc.
  • Battery charge, headlights and parking lights
  • Essential fluids such as engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, etc.

The interior and the trunk
Your car also needs your attention. If you have no interest in looking under the hood and under the car, you can easily take a look under the seats, the carpets and in the trunk.

  • Put away the winter necessities (shovels, booster cables, blankets, traction tracks)
  • Take out everything that is not needed
  • Clean the carpets and vacuum the carpets
  • Wash and wax the bodywork
  • Clean the windows and plastic surfaces (to avoid discoloration and cracks)
  • Check the condition of the bodywork (easy to correct the small chips)

Ultimately, there are four reasons why you should give your vehicle some love this spring: your safety, reliability, long-term savings and concern for the environment.
