How to wash your car properly

Summer is coming, and summer means a car wash! Driving around in a sparkling clean car is certainly good for morale. On a more serious note, keeping your car clean helps enhance its appearance and, over the years, increases its resale value.

Of course, not everyone is an expert in car washing, and fortunately, because there are hundreds of people in the world who do it for a living! Without claiming to bring you up to their level, this short text gives you the basics. 

So how do you wash your car properly?

1. The first thing we recommend is to buy a car soap! Many people make the mistake of using household detergents or dish soap to wash their cars, and there is nothing worse to destroy the shine of a paint job! You can find several soaps at your local hardware store, but make sure they contain wax, in a "wash and wax" formula, so you kill two birds with one stone, by protecting the car, in addition to cleaning it.
2. Now, how to do it? It's not rocket science! Ideally, leave your car in the shade to refresh its surface. Start by spraying your car to remove mud and dust. Once the car is wet, dip your sponge or wash mitt into your bucket, then clean the car's roof, front windshield, hood, rear window, and the top of the trunk. Next, rinse this area, otherwise the soap will dry and stain. Continue by cleaning the sides, front, and back, with a rinse between washing each area.
3. Finally, dry the car with a microfiber towel, which is absorbent but does not scratch. With these basics, you should be fine.
