2 tips to de-ice your windshield easily

This winter, freezing rain has been more frequent than in previous years. Many mornings you have had to deal with a completely frozen windshield. Your solution was probably the same as many other motorists: warm up your car until the ice starts to soften and you can finally get rid of it. While your technique may get you there, it's still a serious waste of time and pollution.

First solution:
The salt causes a chemical reaction that melts the ice. So you can arm yourself with a homemade salt solution. You can make it with table salt, but the ideal is always the coarse salt used on the ground. It has a special chemical composition that makes it particularly effective.

There is no exact dosage; make an initial mix and if you see that the ice does not react or reacts little, add more to your spray bottle.

Once the mixture is made, spray it on your windows when necessary. Be careful not to spray on the bodywork as the solution is still corrosive.

Second solution:

In a spray bottle, mix one cup of isopropyl alcohol with two cups of water. Then simply spray it on all the windows.

You can also add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. This addition will lower the frosting point. This way, even if the ice settles on your windows, it will be thinner and therefore easier to remove.

Preventive measures:

• Is it icy tonight? Apply a cloth soaked in a salt solution (one tablespoon of salt to one liter of water) to your windshield. Twist it moderately and make sure it is placed under the windshield wipers.

• Throughout the winter, add isopropyl alcohol to your windshield washer reservoir. This will prevent your wipers from freezing.
