Why is Mercedes-Benz no longer selling diesel models in Quebec?

I'd like to know why in Quebec it's impossible to buy a Mercedes-Benz with a diesel engine like we have in Morocco?

Hello Mamoun,

Following the Dieselgate scandal initiated by the Volkswagen group's cheating, Mercedes-Benz cars with Bluetec diesel engines have suddenly disappeared from the North American market. These were already struggling to comply with emission standards that differ from those in Europe, but we can imagine that Mercedes-Benz vehicles that also used Bosch software (the source of Volkswagen's cheating) didn't meet emission standards either.

Mind you, Mercedes-Benz wasn't alone in this. Several other diesel-powered products offered by various European brands - and even Chevrolet - suddenly disappeared from the North American market at the end of 2015. Coincidence? Certainly not. That's why today diesel engines are very rare on our market, being offered only in GM 1500 series pickups and HD trucks.

Until recently, some Jeep vehicles could also be fitted with them, but these were discontinued following the partial redesign of the models. So, to find good diesel-powered vehicles, you'll have to look at used BMW, Jeep, full-size trucks, or even models sold before 2015.
