Otogo and Pratico Patrick: a love-hate story that is carried on TikTok

Remember our latest TV commercial? A daughter jokes that she won't need her father anymore because it's so easy to store for a car on Otogo. A distraught father who thinks he's lost his daughter because he can't give her advice and use all his wisdom and experience.

Well, he didn't stop there. This father now has a mission: to prove to his daughter Gaby that he is still useful by launching himself on TikTok. Here is the story of Pratico Patrick.

Meet Pratico Patrick!

Patrick is just like any other dad: he can handle just about anything, he's always willing to give good advice, and most of all, he loves his kids. That explains why he was heartbroken when his daughter Gabrielle - Gaby to her friends - told him she wouldn't need him anymore, now that she knows how easy it is to buy a used car on Otogo.ca.

Patrick is now taking a chance and launching himself on TikTok. Knowing that Gaby (as well as the millions of users on the platform) spend hours scrolling through the videos, Patrick deduced that it was the perfect place to reach her and demonstrate his usefulness. At least, that's what he thinks, because he's not aware that he'll be able to reach thousands of other people too...

It is with a lot of enthusiasm, but a lot of clumsiness that he starts to film his capsules where he shows Gaby the little things in life. Not surprisingly, cars are his favourite subject: changing tires, checking the oil and tire pressure, safety tips... But he doesn't stop there! You'll find him in his garage, in his kitchen, in his basement and even crouching on the ground for practical advice for everyday life!

The reflection behind the character

Conceived by the creative agency Récréation and powered by the boldness of Otogo, this advertising campaign comes from the idea that there are two types of people when it comes to buying a new vehicle: the one who doesn't know anything about cars and the one who advises the one who doesn't know anything about cars. The image of a father and daughter was therefore the perfect one to illustrate this concept. This is how the characters of Patrick and Gaby were born.

But just like Pratico Patrick, we didn't stop there. Digital is a must these days, but we wanted to make the most of it. TikTok was the platform of choice for us to think outside the box: the content on there is unpolished and very authentic. In short, the perfect playground for Patrick to get his daughter's attention again.

It's well known: TikTok content must inspire, entertain or educate. Our dear Patrick meets all three criteria. He educates his daughter in 25 vignettes, covering topics ranging from car mechanics to spring cleaning. He entertains all the users who cross his path, because let's face it, a clumsy and awkward father is funny. And finally, he may inspire other fathers who have been abandoned by their children because of Otogo to join his cause, who knows!

This is just between us, but we know that Pratico Patrick doesn't hate Otogo, he's just a little jealous... and even a little bit of a fan. After all, it's easy for everyone to find something on Otogo.ca.
