Nissan imagines the ultimate tailgate party vehicle
In a sign that the SEMA Show in Las Vegas is approaching (November 5-8, 2024), automakers have begun unveiling new special or modified vehicles to highlight the versatility and potential of their models.
Nissan's “Project Trailgater” is probably the ideal truck for outdoor enthusiasts and soccer fans who don't want to miss out on either. The starting point is the improved Frontier 2025, naturally in the PRO-4X version.
First, there are two 43-inch TVs and a powerful sound bar mounted on the NISMO stand above the cargo box. With this equipment comes a folding solar panel, a set of lithium batteries and the necessary electronics, as well as Starlink connectivity - everything to broadcast matches from anywhere a Wi-Fi network or satellite is available.
Of course, a tailgate party also means a feast. Here, the vehicle includes a Dometic refrigerator and cooler, a deployable kitchenette with sink, and a propane barbecue. Two large, practical drawers slide out from the bottom of the body to remove and store equipment. There's also a camping table and chairs, even everything you need to make a fire pit.
The list of additions also includes inverters and chargers, crockery, a first-aid kit and more. It should be noted, however, that the rear bench has been removed, leaving only two seats in the cab.
As for the rest, the Project Trailgater seems to be designed for long backcountry expeditions, with a lifted suspension featuring reinforced arms and high-performance rear shocks. The 17” Beadlock wheels are shod with Yokohama Geolandar mud tires. And let's not forget the luggage rack and numerous roof lights.
Finally, like all Frontier 2025s, this one has a new 12.3” touchscreen. It's impossible to miss the “FRONTIER” lettering, which adds a touch of sparkle to the decor.
The Nissan Frontier 2025 is now on sale, with a price range from $47,998 to $57,098, excluding $1,510 for freight and preparation. Unlike its competitors, it offers two cab formats (King and Double) in addition to two wheelbase lengths. PRO-4Xs can now be ordered with a double cab and a long wheelbase (six-foot box). In addition, its maximum towing capacity has been increased by around 500 lb, reaching up to 6,850 lb.
