A Tesla Cybertruck abandoned on the streets of Seattle goes viral
The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck has been generating mixed reactions among its new owners since deliveries began in the USA late in 2023. Some of the videos posted online seem to show that its capabilities are not quite up to the company's expectations.
One thing's for sure: the unorthodox electric van is turning heads and attracting attention wherever it goes. The proof was in its surprise appearance at the Montreal Auto Show 2024 in January. Here's another example from the American city of Seattle.
A crashed Cybertruck abandoned at the curb by its owner has gone viral in the last few days, attracting a good number of curious onlookers... and even having - momentarily, at least - its own point of interest on Google Maps!
Despite unverified accounts on Reddit, the story has yet to be unravelled, but as can be seen from the images relayed by the discussion forum, the vehicle suffered significant damage to the wheel and suspension on the left rear side, rendering it unusable. Passers-by took the opportunity to mock this “Cyberstuck” by erecting an improvised memorial, as if for a deceased person.
A notice from the Seattle Police Department stuck under the huge windshield wiper told the owner that he had until today, September 9, to have the van towed, failing which it would be seized and consigned at his expense.
When you think of the high price the Cybertruck can command, it's pretty incredible. By the way, Tesla finally launched sales in Canada this summer, starting with the limited Foundation Series version. The two-engine, 600 hp configuration costs $137,990, which does not include various fees or sales taxes (including the federal luxury tax). The three-engine, 845 hp Cyberbeast retails for $165,990.
In both cases, deliveries are scheduled for sometime in October or November. Orders for other versions of the Tesla Cybertruck are expected to begin towards the end of 2024.
