10 classic vehicles that will increase in value in 2024, according to Hagerty
The classic car market slowed down in 2023. Will the new year be any different? We'll be able to talk about that in a year's time.
Meanwhile, classic car insurer Hagerty has published its list of models with a good chance of increasing in value in 2024.
"Our aim is to show that classic cars can be accessible and profitable with the right homework and a bit of luck. As long as it remains a hobby for fun, a classic car will never disappoint," says Hagerty.
The 10 used and collectible vehicles to watch out for in 2024 span no less than seven decades. We present them to you below. In each case, the value indicated is for an example in good condition.
Lamborghini Countach 25e Anniversaire 1989 – 435 000 $US
A true icon, with a V12 engine revving at 7,000 rpm and incomparable doors. An ideal car for attracting crowds.
Chrysler Town & Country 1946-1950 – 52 500 $US
A post-war star... with wood panelling to boot. Like a piece of art deco you can drive.
BMW M3 2008-2013 – 40 600 $US
An engine worthy of an exotic car, or almost, and a superb chassis. If maintenance hasn't been done properly, however, beware.
Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution 1997-1999 – 35 000 $US
So cool and more fun than a regular SUV. Also very niche and hard to get parts for.
Ferrari FF 2011-2016 – 125 000 $US
There are more beautiful Ferraris, of course, but none more practical than the FF with its trunk and integral gearbox.
Jaguar XKR 2000-2005 – 16 100 $
A silky-smooth supercharged V8 in a car with sensual lines. A Jaguar coupe as affordable as a used Camry. Watch out for maintenance!
Chevrolet Impala SS 1965-1970 – 22 200 $
A true American classic for parading or cruising, the Impala SS needs a big garage, but parts are fairly easy to find.
Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler 1981-1986 – 31 700 $US
Quite rare, the Scrambler resembles a life-size Tonka truck and looks invincible. Collector's 4x4s like this one are increasingly sought-after.
Ford Thunderbird 1964-1966 – 27 400 $US
A big boat, not very fast, but still an eye-catching style. The Thunderbird is available in a variety of configurations and has a very comfortable ride.
Plymouth Prowler 1997-2002 – 29 200 $US
Not particularly rare, the Prowler remains unique for its design and engineering. You can find one for not too much money.
