You could earn $65 an hour driving a Tesla!

How would you like to earn up to $65 an hour driving a Tesla provided by Elon Musk's company to round out your income? In the U.S., Tesla paid motorists between $24 and $65 an hour this summer to help refine its autonomous driving technology. In Quebec, a similar job offer is currently on display at Tesla Saint-Bruno, on Montreal's South Shore.
"We are looking for a highly motivated individual to accelerate our vehicle-level testing for all current and future autopilot functionality on the road to fully autonomous driving," it reads. It is mentioned that the candidate will be required to analyze "test data, triage software issues and abnormal vehicle behaviors using tools".
Artificial intelligence
Last Friday, Tesla didn't return our interview requests, but Le Journal de Montréal was able to test drive the autonomous car with an ex-Quebec Tesla employee, Gad Elmoznino, a big fan of the brand and the first owner of the Model S delivered to Quebec in 2012.
He told the Journal that in recent months, Tesla has amassed data from car owners like him who have agreed to share their detailed navigation information so that it can improve its AI-guided autonomous driving software.
"We want to see at what point the owner regains control of his car. When that happens, the car says: 'You've stopped autonomous driving. What happened?" explains Gad Elmoznino, vice president of technology at Club Tesla Québec. At this point, the driver can recount the incident in a few words and then send it to the American automaker's engineers.
According to Gad Elmoznino, the fact that Tesla has reached this point probably means that their technology is very advanced and on the verge of completion. Recently, the entrepreneur successfully made the Montreal-Quebec City round trip with autonomous driving, keeping a close eye on his steering wheel.
