The Tesla Cybertruck can finally be ordered in Canada, and it's not cheap!
Tesla has finally launched sales in Canada of its famous electric van, the Cybertruck. And don't be fooled, as prices are still dizzying.
The first reservation holders in the country have received an invitation from Tesla to order their copy, as many have mentioned on social networks, including via the Cybertruck Canada Facebook group. Currently, only two versions are available.
First of all, the Cybertruck AWD Foundation Series retails for $137,990, which does not include various fees or sales taxes (notably the federal luxury tax). This is roughly equivalent to the price in the USA for the same truck, taking into account the current exchange rate.
We're talking here about a twin-motor Cybertruck developing a total of 600 hp and delivering acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. It can travel up to 512 km on a full charge, and tow up to 4,990 kg (11,000 lb). The Foundation Series package, which marks the vehicle's launch and adds a number of conveniences, will only be available for a limited time.
Next, the Cyberbeast Foundation Series model has a retail price of $165,990, so you're looking at over $200,000 after all applicable fees and taxes. Ouch!
This is, of course, a much more powerful Cybertruck, equipped with three 845 hp engines and capable of 0-100 km/h sprints in just 2.7 seconds. Maximum towing capacity remains unchanged at 4,990 kg (11,000 lb), while range is estimated at 484 km.
In both cases, deliveries are scheduled for sometime in October or November. Orders for other versions of the Tesla Cybertruck are expected to start towards the end of 2024.
For comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning 2024 currently retails from $59,995 to $110,495. Generous manufacturer rebates and government subsidies are available. The Chevrolet Silverado EV 2024, currently available in 3WT, 4WT and RST First Edition versions, ranges from $78,070 to $120,870 (here including fees and luxury tax, where applicable).
