Summer or winter, optimal vision is essential for safe driving. At the end of the season, it is not uncommon for our vision to be obstructed by dirty snow deposits on the highway, for example. When you have a dirty windshield, you need a lot of windshield washer fluid. We offer you two easy windshield washer recipes that are suitable for both cold and warm weather, while avoiding the use of toxic chemicals.
Winter recipe for a 5L gallon
You need:
- 5L container
- 3L distilled water
- 1L white vinegar
- Pour the water into the container
- Add the vinegar
- When the outside temperature drops below zero, pour a small amount of your mixture into a bowl. Place it outside overnight. If it freezes, add more vinegar and retest to reach the proportions that will keep your windshield washer fluid.
*We do not recommend using this recipe in summer, as the heat gives off a strong, pungent smell.
4 seasons recipe for a 5L gallon
You need:
- 5L container
- 4L of distilled water
- 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid
- 100ml of concentrated ammonia, without additives or surfactants
- 1 pair of gloves
- Pour the water into the container
- Add the soap
- Wear gloves and move to a well-ventilated area
- Add the ammonia (when diluted, ammonia loses much of its toxicity)
- Close the container, then shake it vigorously
- Dispense a small amount of the mixture onto a cloth and test it on part of your windshield. If it leaves no trace, you can fill your tank.
