Top 10: The Least Expensive Hybrid Vehicles in 2025

What are you looking for in a hybrid vehicle? Fuel economy, improved performance, or maybe a combination of both?

Consuming less (and polluting less) is one thing, but saving money at the pump is another. Indeed, it is very important to calculate the price difference compared to a conventional model and the mileage needed to make it worthwhile based on the cost of gas.

The Car Guide has compiled below the 10 least expensive hybrid vehicles on the Canadian market in 2025. The prices shown correspond to the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) at the time of publication and are subject to change. They do not include fees, rebates, or applicable taxes.

Before going any further, know that the Kia Sportage Hybrid ($41,245) falls just outside the top 10 following a major update for the 2026 model year that increased its price by more than $3,000. On the other hand, the price of the new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, expected this fall, has not yet been announced.

10. 2025 Ford Escape Hybrid ST-Line – MSRP starting at $40,849

The Escape doesn’t change much for 2025 aside from some equipment updates. The hybrid model (192 horsepower) costs just over $40,000. Worth noting: the plug-in hybrid Escape (not available with all-wheel drive) offers an electric range of 60 km.

9. 2025 Toyota Prius XLE AWD – MSRP starting at $38,165

Beneath a truly eye-catching, even exotic design, the fifth-generation Prius’s powertrain combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 196 horsepower. Despite the presence of the Corolla Hybrid, this car remains highly relevant and comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Average fuel consumption: 4.8 L/100 km.

8. 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid LE – MSRP starting at $36,635

The RAV4 Hybrid (219 horsepower) remains a popular SUV and helps make this Toyota the second best-selling vehicle in the country. All-wheel drive comes standard, even on the entry-level LE version. Note: the all-new 2026 RAV4 is expected to hit the market toward the end of 2025 and will be exclusively hybrid. Price increases are to be expected.

7. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid SE AWD – MSRP starting at $34,845

Versatile and reliable, the Corolla Cross is a small SUV with strong resale value. Its hybrid variant (196 horsepower) is also very fuel-efficient. It’s easy to see why demand exceeds supply. By the way, Toyota Canada has not decided to stop importing this U.S.-built model due to Canadian counter-tariffs, unlike Mazda with the CX-50, which comes from the same factory.
Average fuel consumption: 5.6 L/100 km.

6. 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid XL – MSRP starting at $34,600

The Maverick received an update for 2025, and its base price has increased by $900. Its highly sought-after hybrid powertrain is now optionally available with all-wheel drive for an extra $2,500. However, getting your hands on one remains difficult.
Average fuel consumption: 6.4 L/100 km.

5. 2025 Toyota Camry SE – MSRP starting at $34,300

Fully redesigned for 2025 but still the benchmark in its class, Toyota’s mid-size sedan now offers only a hybrid powertrain—and it's a very efficient one. The base SE version is front-wheel drive (225 horsepower), while all other trims come with all-wheel drive (232 horsepower).

4. 2026 Honda Civic Sport Hybrid – MSRP starting at $34,100

Since 2025, the electrified powertrain has been available on the Civic Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims, which are as powerful (200 horsepower) as the sporty Civic Si. Note that the price shown above—up $500 for the 2026 model year—is for the sedan. However, Honda also offers a hybrid Civic hatchback.

3. 2025 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Luxury – MSRP starting at $31,099

Up $600 over the past year, the only available version of the Elantra Hybrid (139 horsepower) remains very affordable and especially very fuel-efficient, as we found during a road test this spring. Of course, you have to like its design.
Average fuel consumption: 4.7 L/100 km.

2. 2025 Kia Niro LX – MSRP starting at $30,795

The Niro features an attractive size and continues to offer hybrid (139 horsepower), plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants, each without all-wheel drive. The prices and build quality are remarkable, and the fuel economy is unbeatable.

1. 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE – MSRP starting at $27,090

Offered only as a sedan and not as a hatchback, the Corolla Hybrid (138 horsepower) is the least expensive hybrid vehicle in the country in its base LE front-wheel-drive version, with a price increase of only $300 compared to 2024. Other available versions come with all-wheel drive, it’s worth noting.
