In 2025, demand for electric vehicles slowed significantly in Canada. The political climate, reduced subsidies in Quebec, and the unlikely return of the federal incentive program fueled concerns among many consumers. Rightly or wrongly, range continues to be a concern for some buyers.
On this point, it's important to note that most market segments include models capable of traveling more than 500 km on a single charge. Consider compact cars (Kia EV4), compact SUVs (Chevrolet Equinox EV), or three-row SUVs (Hyundai Ioniq 9).

10. Kia EV4 Wind
Range: 552 km (according to Kia).
Price of this version: $42,995.
New for 2026, this compact sedan, similar in size to a Honda Civic, will also be the most affordable electric vehicle in the country. Priced at $38,995 before fees, the base Kia EV4 offers a respectable range of 391 km with its 58.3 kWh battery. Now in its fifth year on the market, the BMW iX has gained power and improved batteries. Cosmetic tweaks have also softened some of its features, but the design remains polarizing. A word of advice: keep an eye out for the upcoming arrival of the iX3, which embodies BMW's future and philosophy in the electric vehicle sector.
8. Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC Sedan
Range: 597 km.
Price of this version: $160 400.
Suffering from significant depreciation, questionable reliability, a small interior for a large sedan, and bland styling, the EQS failed to replace the venerable S-Class as Mercedes-Benz's flagship model. This explains why it will not see a second generation. Still, we must acknowledge its smooth ride and performance.
Range: 607 km.

Launched in spring 2025, the A6 e-tron resembles the A6 (which retains a gasoline engine), but is based on a different platform. To take advantage of the advertised 607 km range, you'll need to select the Ultra version, equipped with less-than-elegant aerodynamic wheels. The other A6 e-trons are limited to 536 km.
6. Tesla Model S et Model X
Range: 660 and 566 km, respectively.
Price of this version: $139,990 and $149,990, respectively.
Although the Model S and Model X are among the oldest new vehicles (they were introduced in 2012 and 2016, respectively), their technical specifications remain up to date. The sedan and SUV are getting a facelift this year with new equipment, a redesigned suspension, and slight aesthetic changes.
5. Rivian R1T Dual Motor Batterie Max
Range: 676 km.
Price of this version: $150 990.
Sharing most of its components with the R1S SUV, the Rivian R1T is a pickup truck slightly larger than a Chevrolet Colorado. The bed isn't very long, but there's plenty of storage space and towing capacity ranges from 7,700 to 11,000 lbs. Range depends on battery size (92.5, 108.5, or 140 kWh).
4. Lucid Gravity Grand Touring
Range: 724 km (according to Lucid).
Price of this version: $131 900.
The second model from California-based Lucid, the Gravity joins the Air sedan. Its cutting-edge design gives it impressive driving dynamics, efficient powertrains, and a spacious interior. Natural Resources Canada has not published an official rating, but according to the EPA cycle, the Gravity will be able to travel 724 km without recharging.
Range: 748 km (according to Cadillac).
Price of this version: $157 399.
From a technical standpoint, the Escalade IQ has no connection to the combustion-engine Escalade. But like any self-respecting Escalade, this behemoth revels in decadence. Its GVWR classifies it as a heavy vehicle (its curb weight is close to 4 metric tons) and it must carry a license plate beginning with an “L.” In addition, the curved screen measures 55 inches and the new extended version (called IQL) is over 5.8 meters long.
2. Chevrolet Silverado EV Maximum Range
Range: 793 km.

While Ford is abandoning the F-150 Lightning to eventually relaunch it as a range-extended pickup truck, GM is continuing production of the Silverado EV and Sierra EV. Buyers can choose from three batteries, offering a range of between 455 and 793 km. The largest has a capacity of 205 kWh, and its weight, which is as high as that of a Toyota Corolla, affects handling.
