Honda CR-V 2017 to 2022
Yes, thieves love this generation CR-V, but so do families! Why do they love it? Its vast load area is one of the many reasons. Count on 1,065 liters behind the bench seat, and up to 2,146 liters with the seatbacks folded down. No need for a roof box!
Nissan Rogue 2014 to 2020
It's hard to beat the old Rogue's generous 1,112-liter trunk. This increases to 1,982 liters when the bench seat is empty and can be folded. As for the current Rogue launched four years ago, the first figure drops to 1,028 liters, which is still very spacious, and the second rises to 2,098 liters.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2018 to 2024
A new Tiguan is coming for the 2025 model year. Let's hope it's just as capable of taking it on as its predecessor, whose trunk alone swallows up 1,065 liters of luggage. Volume increases to 2,081 liters when the bench seat is folded. The seven-seat configuration offers 340 and 1,860 liters respectively.
Mitsubishi Outlander 2014 to 2021
With the third row of seats folded down (seriously, who'd want to sit there given the glaring lack of space, even for children?), the previous-generation Outlander can carry 968 liters. This rises to 1,792 liters with the middle seat retracted, and even 1,886 liters in the case of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. Incidentally, the latest Outlander offers up to 2,257 liters, unmatched in its class.
Toyota RAV4 2019 to today
As the best-selling compact SUV on the market, the RAV4 owes part of its success to its spacious load area, boasting 1,059 liters. By folding the rear seats, it can carry up to 1,977 liters in all. Good to know: this also applies to the RAV4 hybrid.
