Which Used Electric Car Models Come with a Front Trunk?
With the increasing number of electric cars on the market, it is easy to see the numerous advantages they offer when compared with gas-powered cars. They have less moving parts which not only simplifies maintenance, but also frees up a lot of space that can be used for other purposes.
Since there is no engine under the hood, many electric cars offer more cargo space thanks to a frunk (a combination of the words front and trunk). Frunks are also sometimes found in sports cars with a mid or rear engine configuration, as their trunk space is often quite limited to say the least.
Frunks are a common thing on the latest generation of EV models such as the Porsche Taycan, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai IONIQ 5. However, if you are looking to buy a used electric car, you might have more trouble finding one that comes with a front trunk.
Every Tesla model has a frunk that is large enough to accommodate a few grocery bags, or even a suitcase. It is the same with the BMW i3, Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-PACE, though they offer more limited storage space when compared to Tesla models. Every other used electric vehicles from popular car brands which only come in a front-wheel drive configuration do not have a front trunk, as under the hood, the engine and other parts take up all the space. Such models include the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Ford Focus électrique, Hyundai IONIQ électrique and Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV and Soul EV, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, MINI Cooper SE, Nissan LEAF and Volkswagen e-Golf.
Needless to say, no matter how large the frunk of an electric car is, it is the perfect place to store a first-aid kit or a charging cable, which can always come in handy in case you don’t have access to a charging station and must resort to a regular power outlet.
