To replace my Subaru Impreza, would you choose the Polestar 2 or the Subaru Solterra?

I currently own a Subaru Impreza and would like to replace it with an electric vehicle and take advantage of the subsidies.

I'm interested in the Polestar 2 because of its format, but my Subaru dealer also sells the Solterra at a very good price.

What should I choose?

First of all, the Solterra shares several features with the Toyota bZ4x. These twin products have been jointly developed and serve as compliance vehicles for these manufacturers, who otherwise offer no other 100% electric models.

Unfortunately, the Solterra doesn't measure up to other Subaru products. The technology on this model is simply not up to scratch, and there are several design flaws. Expect to lose up to 50% of your driving range in winter, since simply activating the heater - even in mild weather - cuts the range by 20%.

The proof, I might add, is in the leasing and financing rates, which stand at an unprecedented 0.99% at Subaru. Add to that a $5,000 manufacturer's credit and government rebates totalling $12,000 taxes included. So, you're right to think the price is tempting, but even so, you'll find better value elsewhere.

For its part, the Polestar 2 is one of today's best bargains. It's a solid, reliable car, and its build quality can't compare with that of the Solterra. With four-wheel drive, the Polestar may cost you a little more than the Solterra, especially if you choose certain option packages that increase the bill.

You'll get a much better value, a car that's more efficient in cold weather, and with much lower depreciation. It's also more fuel-efficient, as is its recharging speed. And, as you mentioned, the Polestar 2 is still a more compact product, just like your current Impreza.
