What is this future electric SUV announced by Acura?

As it did last year with its very first electric vehicle, the ZDX 2024, Japanese luxury brand Acura will be in Monterey, California next week to unveil a new electric model.

Please note that this will not be a production vehicle, but rather a concept. Acura isn't saying much about it at present, and the only image to keep us on our toes doesn't show much, just part of the rear section.

The vehicle appears to be low-slung but very wide, as the rear light bar emphasizes. It will be an SUV that "defies convention", the company promises, and it presages a next-generation model that will be the first to be built in Ohio on Honda's future electric platform. We'll know more when it's unveiled in Monterey.

The Acura ZDX, also available in a Type S performance version (above), was developed with the help of General Motors and is based on the Ultium platform. It is produced in the same plant as the Cadillac Lyriq, in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Available in Canada from $88,560 including various applicable fees, it delivers up to 500 hp and 489 km of range.
