Vehicle unveilings to watch out for in 2026
The year 2026 is just getting started, and thanks to the team at The Car Guide, you won't miss any of the new developments that automakers have in store for us over the next 12 months.
January will be busy once again with CES in Las Vegas, the Detroit Auto Show, and of course, the Montreal Auto Show. That said, let's not forget about separate events, such as the one a few days ago where Ram unveiled the 777-horsepower 2027 SRT TRX.
Without further ado, here are 10 vehicle unveilings to watch out for in 2026...
2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500
Let's start with General Motors' two full-size pickup trucks, which consistently rank among the top 10 best-selling vehicles. A new generation is on the way to replace the one that debuted for the 2019 model year. Expect an even boxier silhouette and a redesigned dashboard with an even larger digital interface. The turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesel engines could both return, although the fate of the latter is more uncertain. What we do know is that GM is working on a new generation of V8s (the sixth) for 2027.
2027 Mazda3
Last October, Mazda unveiled a concept vehicle in Tokyo called the VisionX-Coupe, which represents the brand's future styling direction. This boldly designed car clearly indicates what the future Mazda3 could look like, which is expected to be unveiled in 2026. It should be noted that the manufacturer unveiled the Mazda3 in Tokyo in 2018, which has since been marketed and, ironically, enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in our market in 2025.
2027 Nissan Rogue
Nissan has developed a hybrid technology called e-Power, which is already available elsewhere in the world, particularly in Europe. However, it is still in the development and adaptation phase for the North American market. It will debut in the next-generation Rogue and will likely spell the end of the short-lived Rogue PHEV launched for 2026. The 2027 Rogue is expected to hit the market in the fall of 2026, according to US media reports.
2027 Toyota Corolla
Toyota took advantage of the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October to unveil the Corolla Concept, a car with much bolder lines than the one we know and love, which could indicate the direction the manufacturer wants to take for the next generation of its compact car, expected as a 2027 model. As for the engine, will the Corolla become hybrid-only like many other Toyotas? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, read our road test of the outgoing 2026 model.
The sedan that will follow closely on the heels of the all-new, fully electric iX3 will be called the i3, but it has nothing to do with the small hatchback of the same name that was sold in Canada until 2021. It will be based on the Neue Klasse architecture and is the production model of the concept that graced the cover of the 2025 Car Guide. The new i3 will be accompanied by the next generation of the popular gasoline-powered BMW 3 Series, which will instead focus on an evolution of the current platform. A beautiful duo to look forward to!
2027 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
The Mustang Shelby GT500 was last sold as a 2022 model with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 760 horsepower, 55 less than the new Mustang GTD. Its replacement will inevitably gain power, but how much? That's the big question. It was expected for the 2026 model year, but it will likely be 2027 instead. Camouflaged prototypes have been spotted undergoing testing, and it appears that Ford is considering a convertible this time around.
2027 Audi A4 e-tron, Q7 and Q9
At a special event in Milan last September, Audi kicked off the next chapter in its evolution with the unveiling of the Concept C, which offers a glimpse into the future designs of the German luxury brand. What will be the first concrete result of this new philosophy? Audi isn't saying yet, but it is talking about launching an entry-level electric car (probably the A4 e-tron) and Audi Sport performance models in 2026.
Oh, and let's also keep an eye out for Audi's future large SUV, the Q9, which will finally be unveiled in 2026. It will hit the European market that same year, but will likely arrive in North America in 2027. Audi will also be introducing a new-generation Q7 at the same time. Both vehicles will be based on a version of the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture.
Ferrari Electrica
The first electric Ferrari, whose production model is set to be unveiled in early 2026, will be a four-seater coupe with over 1,000 horsepower and a range of 530 km, as announced last October when its architecture was unveiled. Simply called Elettrica, this sports car promises to be fast (0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, 193 mph top speed) and to simulate not only downshifting but also the growl of a gasoline engine.
Jaguar I-Type
The spectacular Type 00 concept from 2024 will give rise to a production car in 2026, the first of Jaguar's new era, which now aspires to ultra-luxury. It will be different from the concept in question, but will incorporate elements of it in the form of a four-door performance coupe. The new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform aims to offer an electric range of 692 km (according to EPA standards) with a charging speed that allows for an optimal gain of 321 km of range in just 15 minutes. The name I-Type remains to be confirmed.
2027 Volvo EX60
Volvo has revised its electric vehicle plans, but the company still seems to be betting big on the EX60 midsize crossover. It will be similar to a battery-powered version of Volvo's best-selling XC60 and should therefore attract a large number of consumers. It will be the first vehicle based on the future SPA3 platform. It will use new-generation electric motors developed in-house that are even more energy efficient than current motors. The battery, on the other hand, will have greater density and provide more range than what Volvo has accustomed us to.
