Toyota RAV4 2025: a slight price hike before the redesign
The country's best-selling SUV, as we've written before, will keep consumers waiting for its next generation until the 2026 model year. The Toyota RAV4 2025 is now on sale at dealerships, unchanged but with a slight price increase for the 16 versions that still make up the range.
In fact, the only new features are a Khaki Green exterior color with a choice of Black or Mocha interior in the RAV4 Trail, as well as the discontinuation of the Prime designation.
The popular RAV4 Prime will now carry a “PHEV” (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) badge and will be officially called “RAV4 hybride branchable” in French, to make things clearer for the average buyer, according to Toyota. As for the RAV4 Hybrid, it will carry an “HEV” (for Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
And the price increase? It varies roughly from $400 to $550. For example, the bottom-of-the-range RAV4 LE AWD 2025 climbs by $405 to $37,125 including various fees.
As for the RAV4 hybrid, the least expensive is the LE version, which has been increased by $555 and now costs $40,075. That's some $5,000 below the base price of the new Mazda CX-50 Hybrid 2025 ($45,045 including fees), which employs the same 219-hp system but averages 6.2 L/100 km instead of 6 L/100 km and offers a slightly different throttle response to maintain superior sportiness.
For the 2025 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid, the minimum outlay is $55,285 before tax, a jump of $565. The XSE version with the Technology Package, at the top of the range, costs $65,515. Toyota's interest rates remain high, sometimes in excess of 7%.
After the first three quarters of 2024, sales of the Toyota RAV4 were up 3% in Canada on the previous year, at 57,763 units. Its closest rival, the Honda CR-V, sold 41,874 units over the same period.
