The upcoming Chevrolet Bolt appears on the road ahead of its unveiling
After an initial official preview with a few details from manufacturer General Motors this summer, the new generation of the Chevrolet Bolt—expected as a 2027 model—was recently spotted on the road in its entirety, without any camouflage.
Someone was able to take a series of photos of the vehicle while it was plugged into a Tesla Supercharger in California, then shared them on their Instagram account.
The charging port with NACS connector is located on the front left fender, and the entire front end is now clearly visible, including the redesigned headlights and daytime running lights, the black strip that connects them and incorporates the Chevrolet logo, and the black trapezoidal grille at the bottom of the bumper, which gives the Bolt a sportier look.
At the rear, the same principle applies: revamped lights and turn signals (with a three-dimensional effect) are united by a black strip bearing the Chevrolet cross. A textured trim adorns the bumper to enhance the dynamic appearance.
Overall, the lines are more similar to those of the Bolt EUV than the Bolt EV, as was to be expected. Incidentally, GM has already confirmed that the new 2027 Bolt will no longer include the letters “EV” in its name.
As for the pale blue color of the model shown here, it could be a brand new shade, logically, although it is similar to the Rapid Blue of the 2020 to 2025 Corvettes and 2022 to 2023 Camaros.
No images in the series really reveal the interior of the vehicle, but expect similarities to the Equinox EV.
As for the technical aspects, GM's BEV2 platform will likely remain the same as before, except that it will feature a higher-capacity battery (lithium iron phosphate or LFP type) that recharges faster. The most important thing for Chevrolet will be to avoid repeating the nightmare of battery problems and the massive recall that tarnished its reputation and precipitated the retirement of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV.
The Fairfax, Kansas, plant will begin production of the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt in late 2025, with deliveries scheduled for 2026. An official unveiling is therefore imminent.
