The SPVM presents a modified car at the Montreal Auto Show!
When it comes to modified vehicles, it's usually specialized companies that unveil completely insane models. However, the Service de la sécurité routière du Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) took advantage of the Montreal Auto Show to present a modified Ford Mustang Mach-E!
This vehicle will be used as a means of communicating with young people and enthusiasts of modified cars. It's a different way of tackling road safety issues, using prevention rather than repression. To reach this target group, the SPVM has decided to use a revamped Mach-E.
But as you can imagine, there was no question of doing things any old way. The vehicle therefore underwent a number of modifications to meet current compliance standards, all in collaboration with the SAAQ.
The basis is a four-wheel-drive Mach-E Select, which remains unchanged from the factory in terms of performance and range. Aesthetically, SPVM wanted to give the vehicle a meaner look, notably by adding a matte black stone protection film to the hood, roof and false grille. Next, a body kit was added with rocker panels and a rear spoiler. The wheels have also been revised, and are now 20 inches in diameter instead of 19. Finally, the suspension has been modified with shorter springs, lowering the Mach-E to make it more aggressive.
In addition to prevention and awareness-raising activities, the teams in charge of this project will also provide information to people wishing to modify their vehicles, so that they can enjoy themselves while remaining within the law. The vehicle will enter service in the spring of 2025, and will even make a few patrols around the city. On the other hand, it's not an SUV for emergency use, since its lower ground clearance means it can't climb curbs, for example.
