The next Toyota RAV4 could look like this
A new generation of the hugely popular Toyota RAV4 is on the cards for the 2026 model year, and a leak from China seems to indicate what we can expect in terms of design.
An image published on the Weibo social network in the last few hours and then shared by several users and media outlets shows Toyota's redesign of its compact SUV, which is called Wildlander instead of RAV4 on the Chinese market. The photo was apparently taken at a local Toyota dealer meeting.
The details are consistent with photos of a camouflaged prototype of the future RAV4 seen testing in recent months.
The vehicle retains a familiar silhouette, but its front end has changed radically. It incorporates elements from the latest Toyota models, such as the daytime running lights (reinterpreted in its own way) and the honeycomb grille (again with its own unique touch).
Of course, we must remain cautious, as the RAV4 as we know has several aesthetic differences with the Wildlander currently sold in China. It will no doubt be the same with the next generation. Even so, we can see that Toyota's designers are striving to inject more character, drawing inspiration from their latest creations.
No images showing the interior have been released. Technical specifications are also unknown. However, expect the plug-in hybrid model to offer even more electric range.
According to reports, the new Wildlander will be unveiled in April at the Shanghai Motor Show (April 23 to May 2), scheduled to follow the New York Auto Show (April 18 to 27).
