The new Audi A5 and Q5 are getting even better for 2026
Two of Audi's best-selling models, completely redesigned for 2025, continue to evolve with another series of improvements for 2026, mainly on the technology side. We're talking about the A5 sedan (the new generation of the A4, which has changed its name, remember) and the Q5 compact SUV.
First, the Digital Stage interface, which offers up to three screens, features new displays that provide greater consistency within the vehicle and with Audi's mobile app. Information is now clearer and easier to view, including icons.
The multimedia system has fewer menus and its content is displayed in a more graphic way to reduce distractions while driving, which is certainly a good thing. The voice assistant comes with new animations and knows the owner's manual by heart, while a clock is now integrated into the upper left corner of the screen.
In front of the driver, the digital dashboard has also been streamlined and simplified for more user-friendly operation. Three unique displays can be selected using the “View” button on the steering wheel. Audi has also improved the integration of the vehicle's paired phone functions.
The optional screen on the right side of the dashboard also benefits from an optimized layout and can now support Bluetooth headphones, allowing the driver and front passenger to listen to whatever they want without disturbing each other.
Next, a scroll wheel has been reinstated on the steering wheel, replacing the touchpad that designers had decided to install when revamping the A5 and Q5, but which annoyed many drivers.
In addition, the equipment in the different versions has been slightly revised. For example, an S sport suspension and a new high-resolution dashcam are now available with the sedan. The latter is integrated into the base of the rearview mirror and records the action in front of the vehicle in 4K, with excellent image clarity even in low light conditions. It is controlled via an app on the central screen and can automatically capture 30 seconds before and after an accident. The data is stored on an SD card rather than in the vehicle's computer, for privacy reasons.
What else? Well, the 2026 S5 gains a new driving mode called “Dynamic Plus” that allows for greater controlled oversteer, among other things, while changing the displays. The optional parking assistant becomes even smarter, capable of performing automatic maneuvers over a greater distance.
Finally, thanks to new “experience worlds” such as Relaxation, Activation, and Harmonization, the onboard atmosphere can be customized in various ways (lighting, sounds, massage, air conditioning, etc.). These are programs that last between 10 and 20 minutes and even adapt to the vehicle's movements while driving.
The 2026 Audi A5 and S5, as well as the 2026 Q5 and SQ5 (including their Sportback variants), will be on sale by the end of March. Canadian pricing is still to be announced.
