The Mazda CX-5 2026 will be unveiled in less than 10 days
The Mazda CX-5 is getting a facelift for 2026, and there's not much time left before you see it. In fact, the company has scheduled its official unveiling for July 10.
“The CX-5 will appeal to drivers looking for a vehicle that's both practical for everyday use and ready for weekend getaways,” reads a release. With a confidence-inspiring ride, attractive design and thoughtful features, the all-new CX-5 2026 appeals as much to brand loyalists as to those discovering Mazda for the first time."
Three dark images released by Mazda reveal different parts of the vehicle, which will be in its third generation.
These correspond well with the full image that has leaked onto the web in recent days. Unsurprisingly, the evolution of the Kodo design is modest. A redesigned grille, headlights and taillights contribute to a more upscale appearance.
By mentioning that the new CX-5 is “designed to adapt naturally to urban and active lifestyles”, Mazda seems to be indicating that there won't be an off-road version. This role is more appropriately played by the CX-50 Meridian but, as we know, imports of this model into Canada ceased in May due to counter-tariffs on US-made vehicles. It is not known if and when it will return.
No technical details have yet been confirmed. However, the company is working on an all-new gasoline engine called SKYACTIV-Z which, unlike its predecessor SKYACTIV-X, will be offered in North America. Combined with a hybrid system developed in-house by Mazda (instead of being borrowed from Toyota like the CX-50 hybrid), it is due to make its debut in the CX-5 in 2027.
