The Lucid Air shatters the Guinness record for electric vehicle range.
Lucid has just broken the Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by a production electric vehicle on a single charge.
In the last few days, an example of its Air sedan in Grand Touring version covered 1,205 km without stopping to plug in, shattering the previous record of 1,045 km set the previous month.
Even more incredible: Lucid achieved its feat not just on flat roads, but also in the mountains, linking the towns of St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany.
"This autonomy record represents an important milestone. It's another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid," said Lucid Senior Vice President of Products and Chief Engineer Eric Bach.
With its 112 kWh battery, the Lucid Air Grand Touring claims an official range of 960 km according to the WLTP standard and 824 km according to those used in North America. In other words, it has travelled almost 50% further than expected!

Despite weighing over two tonnes, the car demonstrates exceptional energy efficiency and battery management, as evidenced by its average consumption of 16.4 kWh/100 km according to Natural Resources Canada.
For the purposes of this challenge, it obviously didn't exploit all 819 horsepower at its disposal, nor did it validate its 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds or its top speed of 270 km/h.
Incidentally, the driver behind the wheel, Londoner Umit Sabanci, had also broken the Guinness record for the most countries visited in a production electric car on a single charge. That was last year, again with the Lucid Air Grand Touring.
