The Lamborghini Temerario comes to Canada and we know its price
The Montreal Canadiens' next sensation, Ivan Demidov, wasn't the only star to arrive in Toronto and draw crowds on Thursday. The all-new Lamborghini Temerario, replacement for the Huracán, showed up at the sumptuous Ricarda's for its first visit to Canada, giving some of its future customers the chance to finally see it in person.
Having made its world debut last summer in Monterey, California, the exotic Italian sports coupe completes the electrification of Lamborghini's range, joining the Revuelto and Urus SE.
A new performance dimension
As Andrea Baldi, CEO for the Americas, reminded us in an interview, the company's plan is to leverage hybrid technology to achieve a much higher level of performance. Unlike the now-defunct Huracán, whose naturally-aspirated V10 peaked at 631 hp, the Temerario combines a new 4-liter twin-turbo V8 - the first capable of reaching 10,000 rpm, by the way - with three electric motors for a total of... 907 hp!
Engineers have also gone to great lengths to ensure that the weight saving (1,690 kg versus 1,542 kg for the heaviest Huracán) does not affect performance. How about acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 343 km/h? As for the impact on driving and handling, Baldi admits he hasn't yet had the chance to get behind the wheel himself, but Lamborghini test driver Andrea Caldarelli has shown us some formidable prowess in a short video recently posted online.
Some drivers may miss the sound of the V10, but then again, Lamborghini has worked hard to maximize the expressive side of the V8, including vibrations. The flat-pin crankshaft is particularly noteworthy.
Inside the car, the experience will certainly be very different from that of the Huracán, following the significant transformation of the dashboard and main controls. The technology stands out more, and the central screen is better positioned, though it replaces several physical buttons in the process. According to Andrea Baldi, the more generous interior space will please all drivers, especially in a market like North America. The same goes for the extra dozen liters of cargo space.
Rising price
Although orders for the Temerario have long been underway, the first units for Canada will not be delivered until 2026. What's the price? Excluding fees and applicable taxes, it's $432,490, which again contrasts with the Huracán ($290,000 to $425,000 approx.). In the longer term, Lamborghini is working on its first fully electric model. It will be inspired by the 2023 Lanzador concept, but it won’t arrive before 2029.
