For its 7th edition, taking place at the Olympic Stadium from Friday to Sunday, the Salon du véhicule électrique de Montréal (SVEM) will introduce visitors to nearly 70 electrified models representing 23 automotive brands, whether 100% electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid.

In addition, no fewer than 80 vehicles were available for test drives. All in all, record numbers for the event.

Early arrivals and new products

Headliners at this year's SVEM include the Dodge Charger electric concept, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, the Fiat 500e, the updated Tesla Model 3, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz (North American version) and ID.7 (European version), the Fisker Ocean, the Polestar 3, the Volvo EX30 and EX90, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger and the Kia Carnival hybrid. Some of these models will be making their first appearance at a Quebec show.

Back to the Tesla Model 3, whose popularity in the province will only increase with the various changes it has just undergone. These include an updated design, a larger trunk and improved assembly quality. There's also a slightly larger central screen (15.4 inches) and a second 8-inch monitor for rear-seat passengers. Tesla has also improved soundproofing and the quality of materials in the cabin.

The Silverado EV on test for the first time

Chevrolet's electric pickup is gearing up to break into the Canadian market towards the end of the summer, and to rival the Ford F-150 Lightning. At SVEM, it will even be possible to test-drive the Silverado EV, more specifically in its WT (Work Truck) version. As we recently learned, the entry-level 3WT model will be available in Canada from $78,025, including various fees.

Based on GM's Ultium electric architecture, the Silverado EV WT boasts a 200 kWh battery and an exceptional range of up to 724 km. It can plug into a 350 kW fast-charging station and regain around 160 km in just 10 minutes, according to the manufacturer. In terms of performance, we're talking about 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to pull loads of up to 10,000 lb.

And let's not forget the four-wheel steering system, which helps to reduce the turning radius and negotiate tight bends, for example when parking. Try it out at SVEM!

Not just cars and trucks

During the three-day event, visitors will be able to see, try out, analyze and compare new products and the very latest technological innovations in electric mobility. Let's not forget that SVEM also features electric bikes, motorcycles, scooters, scooter scooters, scooters and much more.
