The Canadian Black Book unveils its 2025 awards for Best Retained Value

For the 18th year, Canadian Black Book (CBB) has just recognized the vehicles that retain the highest percentage of their original manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) four years after purchase.

The industry average in 2025 is 67.5%, which is barely better than last year and far from the record 80% recorded in 2022, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a year of great uncertainty for the automotive industry, particularly due to customs surcharges, CBB reports that brands offering a wider range of hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles are faring better than those relying primarily on battery-electric models.

Among the 2025 winners, Toyota once again took home seven awards, including Best Popular Brand. Its Tacoma pickup truck has been crowned the winner in its category for the 17th consecutive year.

Porsche once again ranks as the best luxury brand, BMW stands out as the best electric vehicle brand, and Buick wins the honor for the most improved brand.
