Quebecers' most sought after pre-owned vehicles in 2023
As 2023 draws to a close, it's time to take stock. The used vehicle market has continued to adapt to the impact of the pandemic and new vehicle price inflation.
What kind of models are Quebec consumers looking for most in 2023? To find out, we analyzed the most visited pages on Otogo.ca since January 1.
SUVs still reign supreme
Once again, no one will be surprised to learn that SUVs are the most sought-after. In 2023, their ads were consulted at least twice as often as those of any other vehicle category. Pickup trucks come second, ahead of sedans and hatchbacks. Sport coupes and convertibles follow. Vans and station wagons remain far behind in the search.
The typical profile
A majority of people are looking for used vehicles that are three to five years old, but given the high price of new vehicles, barely used models (one or two years old) are also in demand. Lower mileage, better condition and an original manufacturer's warranty still valid are among the reasons.
Looking at mileage, the used vehicles that dominate searches are generally between 30,000 and 60,000 km. As in previous years, there are still many page views in each of the other brackets up to 100,000 km, after which a marked, gradual decline is observed.
Now, what about the impact on the budget? According to Otogo statistics, models ranging from $15,000 to $20,000 were the most sought-after in 2023, closely followed by those in the $20,000 to $30,000 range. Finally, although vehicles priced at $10,000 or less are harder to find, the number of searches has increased compared to 2022.
