Quebec City Electric Vehicle Show: the popularity of test drives doesn't lie
The fifth edition of the Salon du véhicule électrique de Québec, held from October 25 to 27 at the ExpoCité Exhibition Centre, is considered a resounding success by its organizer, Corporation Mobilis.
We were delighted with the response from visitors,” says show president Sébastien Bolduc. We had nearly 25 brands on display, which is a new record for the Quebec City Electric Vehicle Show.”
Not only were 100% battery-powered models in the spotlight, but also hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Among the highlights were the Porsche Macan electric, the GMC Sierra EV, the Volvo EX30, the Polestar 3 and the Dodge Charger Daytona coupe. The latter will begin arriving at dealerships in Quebec and British Columbia later this fall.
A first Cybertruck public trial in Canada
The road tests organized by the Association des véhicules électriques du Québec are a staple of the event, gaining in popularity year after year. Some 2,800 test drives were carried out during this fifth edition, with no fewer than 45 vehicles available to visitors - another record. Among those that stole the show was the Tesla Cybertruck (shown here with Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus).
Available only during the day on Sunday, the electric van with its polarizing design gave Capital Region electromobilists the chance to try it out on the road for the first time in Canada, albeit as passengers. Unsurprisingly, many of them took advantage of the opportunity.
The Salon du véhicule électrique de Québec was one of the last opportunities to test-drive and compare electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles before subsidies under Quebec's Roulez vert program are reduced as of January 1, 2025.
