Mercedes-Benz EQB 2024: full discounts even with all-wheel drive
Mercedes-Benz's entry-level electric SUV, which benefits from a few changes in its second model year, is bringing an all-wheel drive variant back to the Canadian market, except that it will be less powerful than before. But why? Quite simply to keep the price down, and to qualify for full government subsidies.
Instead of the familiar EQB 350 4MATIC (288 hp, 384 lb-ft, 356 km range), Mercedes-Benz will be marketing an EQB 300 4MATIC in Canada, with 225 hp, 288 lb-ft of torque and an estimated range of 340 km.
Like the front-wheel-drive variant, the EQB 250+, which has a base MSRP of $59,990, the EQB 300 4MATIC 2024 ($64,990 before various fees totaling no less than $4,835) will give its Quebec customers a $5,000 federal rebate as well as a $7,000 provincial rebate (at least until December 31, 2024, after which the latter will be reduced).
Two equipment levels
The Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC will arrive in Canadian dealerships by late spring. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, a digital instrument panel and 10.25-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and power tailgate. Note that the presentation of charging information in the MBUX system has been improved. This means you no longer have to navigate through different sub-menus, which is a good thing.
Driver assistance technologies include a new single/multi-purpose camera and a new rear-view camera, enhancing visibility and obstacle detection. Lane-keeping assistance works more fluidly to correct the vehicle's trajectory. As for proximity sensors, they are more powerful and will facilitate parking maneuvers, for example.
For an additional $2,500, the Exclusive package adds a foot-operated tailgate, new MBUX functions, Keyless-Go and a Burmester audio system with Dolby Atmos technology.
And let's not forget the third-row seat option, which can carry up to seven people in total.
In all cases, the 70.5 kWh battery is the same, with a recharging capacity of 100 kW at a Level 3 rapid terminal, taking it from 10% to 80% in 32 minutes.
