Introducing Sadair's Spear, the new bomb from Koenigsegg
Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg has pushed the boundaries once again. The all-new Sadair's Spear, unveiled today, goes even further than the record-breaking Jesko Attack and focuses on the racetrack, although it remains road-legal.
It is named after the last racehorse ridden by Jesko von Koenigsegg, father of founder Christian von Koenigsegg, in 1976.
Benefiting from a new calibration and improved cooling, the 5-liter twin-turbo V8 boosts power to 1,300 hp (+20) on regular gasoline and 1,625 hp (+25) on ethanol-based E85 fuel. All this is transmitted to the rear axle by Koenigsegg's flywheelless sequential gearbox, called “Light Speed Transmission”, which is controlled by steering-wheel-mounted paddles.
Meanwhile, the car's weight has been reduced by 35 kg (77 lb), enabling it to beat even the Koenigsegg One:1 power-to-weight ratio. The suspension employs lightened springs and new Triplex shock absorbers developed in-house, while the carbon-ceramic brakes rely on thicker, more durable pads.
Of course, much of the work on a hyper-sports car of this kind involves aerodynamics. The main improvement comes in the form of a new, actively-controlled double rear spoiler, which increases downforce in conjunction with underbody slots and open-work wheel arches.
Incidentally, the design of the four carbon-fiber wheels is not the same, and the tires around them are wider. The rear end has been slightly lengthened, and the various air intakes have been redesigned to optimize cooling.
As for the cockpit, also designed with lightness in mind, the console has been redesigned and the carbon-fiber seats are fitted with three-point belts as standard, or six-point harnesses as an option.

This car is destined to set records. To achieve such dominance on the racetrack in a fully road-legal vehicle is nothing short of remarkable."
