How much does... the Subaru Crosstrek 2024 cost?
The Subaru Crosstrek, the most popular model in the Japanese manufacturer's range, has been renewed for 2024. The styling has been modernized and the plug-in hybrid version - which shared its technology with Toyota - has been withdrawn from the catalog.
Competition is fierce in the subcompact SUV segment, as the Crosstrek competes against the Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross, among others.
New version
The Crosstrek is available in five variants: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited and the new adventurous Wilderness. The latter features new underbody plates, increased shock absorber travel and raised ground clearance. A high-efficiency radiator for the transmission has been installed to increase towing capacity from 1,500 to 3,500 lb.
"Customers who buy this version are likely to venture off the beaten track. Subaru came up with the idea of designing bumpers that are partially detachable", explains columnist Antoine Joubert. This facilitates repairs, he adds.
Healthy roadholding
During the summer season, Antoine emphasizes the Crosstrek's user-friendliness and versatility. "In winter, you really feel like you're armed to face the worst conditions," adds the expert. He goes on to say that the all-wheel drive system performs extremely well.
However, he was disappointed by the absence of the turbocharged engine found on the WRX. Another disappointment was the Wilderness' average fuel consumption of 9.7 L/100 km.
