Do you have any tips for buying a used Subaru Outback, 2019 to 2022?
I own a 2013 Toyota Matrix at the end of its life, which I loved. This time, I'm targeting a 2019 to 2022 Subaru Outback.

The Subaru Outback is reliable and solid. You'll appreciate its comfort, the interior space it provides and, above all, its greater stability on the road than your previous car. It's also equipped with one of the best all-wheel drive systems in the industry, which you'll be able to exploit to the full wherever you go.
The 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine, though not very powerful, has improved considerably over the years. Once renowned for its excessive oil consumption and knocking, it is now proving its solidity. However, maintenance is essential, with regular oil changes a must. More so than with your Matrix, which was equipped with less temperamental mechanics.
It's worth noting that maintenance costs are bound to be higher for Subaru's Outback than for Toyota's Matrix. This is partly due to the price of parts, but also to on-board technology requiring more maintenance.
My advice is to go for the most recent model possible to benefit from a balance of warranty, while making sure of its history and the maintenance that has been done. It's better to cut back on equipment and choose a newer model than one that's more luxurious but older. In any case, you'll have more luxury than with the Matrix, whatever version you choose.
Finally, don't skimp on the quality of your winter tires if you need to buy or replace them. Good tires make all the difference on such a vehicle. And, even though some body panels are made of aluminum, it's a good idea to start an annual rustproofing treatment right away. This will keep your Subaru in good condition even longer.
