Chevrolet’s large SUVs will still be the only ones to offer this in 2026
The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, refreshed last year, are now on sale for the 2026 model year. They remain two of the best buys in the full-size SUV category due to their versatility, value, and expected reliability.
Do you know what else they have in common? They are the only two vehicles on the market, aside from certain passenger vans, that can carry nine people.
The front bench seat option is still available, although only on the base LS trim. It also saves you $575 (Tahoe) or $275 (Suburban) compared to the regular configuration with two seats separated by a console.
There are two caveats, however. First, as Chevrolet warns on its website, availability is greatly limited “due to current supply chain shortages.” The option may even be unavailable, depending on when you read this. Interested buyers should check with their dealer. Second, it's not a true bench seat with a single seat and backrest. In fact, it's more like three seats stuck together in a 40/20/40 configuration, similar to what you might find in the Chevrolet Silverado. When not in use, the center seat can be folded down and used as a console with cup holders and storage.
If you're considering the Tahoe or Suburban, keep in mind that prices for 2026 start at $81,325 and $84,825, respectively, which is a $1,400 increase over 2025. And both still come standard with two-wheel drive.
Finally, in case you're wondering, the GMC Yukon, which is closely related to the Chevrolet duo, is not available with a front bench seat.
