Chevrolet eliminates its longest-range Blazer EV for 2026
The Chevrolet Blazer EV is currently the only electric vehicle on the North American market available in three drive configurations: front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. However, for the 2026 model year, the second configuration will be eliminated in order to simplify the range.
The news was confirmed this week by a Chevrolet spokesperson to US media.
It's a shame in a way, because the 365 hp, 325 lb-ft rear-wheel-drive Blazer EV RS was the version with the longest range, 538 km according to Natural Resources Canada, as well as the one with the best towing capacity (3,500 lb), on a par with the SS all-wheel-drive performance version. Both have a 102 kWh battery.
The rear-wheel drive RS was the second most expensive model in the catalog, with a price before taxes and subsidies of $68,433.
If you're happy with a front-wheel-drive Blazer EV, with 220 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, the maximum range is still 502 km. This drops to 455 km if you opt for 22-inch wheels - a distance also achievable with the 300 hp, 355 lb-ft four-wheel-drive LT and RS versions. Here, we're talking about an 85 kWh battery.
As for the powerful Blazer EV SS, which generates up to 615 hp in Wide Open Watts mode and 650 lb-ft of torque, it does even better, claiming an official range of 488 km. Costing over $73,000, it is not eligible for the $4,000 Quebec subsidy.
For the rest, the Chevrolet Blazer EV 2026 range changes a few color options and adds a new package combining black exterior trim with 22-inch wheels in bronze finish. Production will start in July, again in Mexico, and Canadian prices will be announced at a later date.
