Audi announces prices for its new A5 and S5 2025
The new generation of Audi's compact luxury sedan will be called the A5 instead of the A4 for 2025, as the company has decided to designate its electric-powered models with even numbers and its combustion-powered models with odd numbers. However, as we wrote a few days ago, Audi will be going backwards because of the confusion that this new nomenclature has caused.
Be that as it may, the Audi A5 2025 sedan and its sportier sibling, the S5, are now available to order in Canada, and we finally know their prices.
The least expensive A5 starts at $61,150 including various applicable fees, which represents an increase of $5,100 (or 9%) over the A4. Note that the A4 is still in the catalogue for 2025, but virtually unchanged. The only colour without charge is Arcona White, as all others require an extra $890, and the 18-inch wheels can be replaced by 19-inch Audi Sport wheels for $3,400.
Available options include a fixed glass roof ($1,300), adaptive dampers ($1,200), ventilated front seats ($900) and other interior leather/similar leather combinations ($3,400).
The Progressiv and Technik versions rise to $65,750 and $67,750 respectively. The former adds a glass roof, ambient lighting, a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and driving aids including head-up display and 360-degree viewing, while the latter boasts a unique headlamp signature, acoustic glass, a 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger and heated rear seats.
All A5 2025 models are powered by a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 268 bhp and 295 lb-ft of torque via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. With quattro all-wheel drive as standard, they accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. On board, there's an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen.
As for the sporty S5 2025, the price starts at $73,150, still including fees - a much more modest increase of $1,150 on the outgoing generation - then rises to $77,750 in Progressiv trim and $81,150 in Technik trim. Equipment and options are similar to those described above, except that the wheels measure 19 or 20 inches, as desired.
The S5 is powered by a 3-litre turbo V6 that develops 362bhp and 406lb ft of torque via a seven-speed S tronic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in just 4.6 seconds.
In case you were wondering, the BMW 3 Series costs slightly more, while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is virtually the same price in base trim, but considerably more expensive than the S5 in AMG C 43 trim.
