A first look at the new 2027 Chevrolet Bolt
Marketed from 2017 to 2023, the Chevrolet Bolt EV allowed tens of thousands of consumers to transition to long-range electric vehicles without paying a high price. Unfortunately, battery issues and a massive recall tarnished its reputation and hastened its retirement.
Now, as you probably know, the manufacturer General Motors has confirmed the arrival of a new generation, seeing that demand is still strong. Today, it gives us an official first look with some details.
First, even though the big unveiling is scheduled for later in 2025, this Bolt 2.0 will arrive as a 2027 model and not 2026, with its commercialization beginning next year. Its name will no longer be followed by the letters ‘EV,’ and according to GM, it will be ‘better than ever.’
The header image and the one above show the changes made to the headlights and taillights. The former are once again separated from the daytime running lights but connected by a black strip and flanked by a lower grille that gives an aggressive look, while the latter adopt a completely new style and a three-dimensional appearance.
The charging port remains on the front left fender of the car but switches from the CCS standard to NACS, which will allow direct access to Tesla Superchargers—no adapter required. This also implies that the fast-charging capability of the 2027 Bolt will be significantly improved, addressing a major shortcoming of the original.

No technical information is provided in this GM announcement, but it is already known that the new generation will use a more efficient battery, like the other electric vehicles from the American giant. By the way, the Fairfax plant in Kansas will start production toward the end of 2025 for deliveries in 2026, but no further details are available at this time.
