789 hp for the Lamborghini Huracán's hybrid replacement

This summer, Lamborghini will unveil the new hybrid-powered sports car that will replace the Huracán in its range from next year. Officially codenamed the 634, information circulating on the web over the past few weeks indicates that it could be called the Temerario.

The Italian manufacturer confirms today that its powertrain will employ an all-new 4-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors, as well as the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that debuted on the Revuelto.

The aim is to increase performance compared with the outgoing Huracán, whose 5.2-liter V10 developed 602 or 631 hp depending on the version, its runner-up promises 789 hp - exactly like the recently unveiled Urus SE - but at significantly higher revs, from 9,000 to 9,750 rpm. That said, the V8 will be technically capable of evolving up to 10,000 rpm, worthy of racing cars. Maximum torque will reach 538 lb-ft from 4,000 to 7,000 rpm.

The electrical unit at the rear will be positioned between the combustion engine and the gearbox and will include the inverter. The other two electric motors will focus on the front wheels. Lamborghini says it has worked on the car's sound to ensure it has a unique character, especially at very high revs.

No word yet on the battery. For information, the Revuelto's battery is only 3.8 kWh, while the Urus SE's is 25.9 kWh. The electric range has yet to be confirmed either.

With this addition, the entire Lamborghini range will be electrified by 2025. The first 100% electric model is expected in 2027, derived from the Lanzador concept.
