2026 Nissan Rogue: Five Things to Know
Unlike many manufacturers hampered by the trade war and tariffs, Nissan has already launched the 2026 2026 Rogue. Available at Canadian dealerships since August, it will gain an adventure version in the fall and a second engine option later in the year. Clearly, the brand wants to maintain the popularity of this compact SUV, which is heading into its fourth generation in 2027.
Here are five things to know about the 2026 Nissan Rogue.
1. The Rogues come and go...
If you're hesitating between a 2025 and 2026 Rogue, be aware that Nissan has discontinued certain versions with the change in model year. The Midnight Edition (which stood out for its dark appearance) has disappeared into the darkness, as have the SL model (mid-range) and the Tech package. The latter cost $4,400 and added safety features such as automatic windshield wipers, ProPilot 2.1 semi-autonomous driving assistance, and an improved 360-degree camera system.
2. Ready to venture... onto a gravel road!
Available on the US market since summer 2024, the Rogue Rock Creek will be offered here in the fall. Featuring a roof rack with crossbars, gloss black mirrors, red accents, a redesigned grille, and specific 17-inch wheels, it has a more rugged appearance.
In addition, Falken Wild Peak tires, an additional “Off-Road” view from the surround-view camera, and hill descent control make it more comfortable on gravel roads. This adventure-oriented model probably won't be able to keep up with a Subaru Forester Wilderness or a Ford Bronco Sport Badlands off the beaten path, but it's an interesting visual exercise.
3. Assembled in Japan and still affordable
Since 2014, Nissan has been importing Rogues from Japan and the United States. By 2026, all models sold in Canada will come from the Japanese plant in Kyushu, while the Smyrna plant in Tennessee will be operating at reduced capacity. This industrial flexibility should ensure a steady supply and stable prices.
With a $300 to $400 increase over last year, prices remain competitive. Here are the prices for each version (plus $2,651 for transportation, preparation, and dealer fees):

4. An engine subject to recall
We must address the engine that powers the Rogue. The three-cylinder VC-Turbo engine disappoints with its unpleasant operation, fuel consumption higher than advertised, and numerous manufacturing defects that led Nissan to issue a recall. If you choose this SUV for its attractive styling, spacious trunk, generous equipment, and affordable monthly payments, be wary of its mechanics. Otherwise, wait for the plug-in hybrid to arrive...
5. Coming soon: a plug-in hybrid... and a Mitsubishi clone?
When announcing its financial results for fiscal year 2024, Nissan promised the arrival of a Rogue PHEV during fiscal year 2025. We've just summarized everything we know about it! For now, the manufacturer has not released any technical details, and based on the only image provided, the electrified Rogue could be a clone of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
As a reminder, the Mitsubishi uses three engines (two electric, one gasoline) with a combined output of 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The battery, whose capacity will increase from 20 to 22.7 kWh in 2026, should allow for a range of 75 km on a single charge. One thing is certain: we'll keep you posted!
